Santiago Aguilar
Santiago Aguilar is a scientist in the field of microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics. He obtained his Bachelor’s of Science in Microbiology with a Chemistry minor from Texas State University and a Master’s of Science in Immunology and Infection from the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio. His research focused on post-transcriptional mechanisms of the fungal organism, Candida albicans. Santiago is currently in the process of applying to medical school.
Santiago is also an active marching arts instructor. He spent 6 years as a World Class performer (2016-2021) and 2 years as a visual instructor (2022 & 2024) in the Drum Corps International circuit. Santiago served in various leadership teams where he prioritized teamwork, communication, the value of education, and morale, with the ultimate goal of inspiring the next generation performers and educators.
Lastly, Santiago is a lifelong fan of the beautiful game of soccer. He first began playing soccer when he was 4 years old. Throughout his youth, Santiago played in various club leagues and school teams, playing on the James Bowie High School JV and Varsity soccer team. He continued to play after high school in the Texas State University intramural soccer league, the University of Texas Health Science Center-San Antonio intramural soccer league, and the Austin Men’s Soccer Association. Santiago currently has his US Soccer Grassroots Referee and Coaching License.
